I just finished a limited edition (65 units) of twocoloured linocuts (19 × 25 cm) that are now for sale. A lot of hard work went into them and they are 100% handmade. Each copy is an original and one of a kind, as they all differ slightly in their appearance. I used high quality offset inks and arts-paper to make them last a lifetime. I numbered and signed each print by hand and added my own quality-stamp on the backside.

The graphic is a reminiscence to the film noir of the 40’s and 50’s. My primary focus was the representation of contrasts, not only by playing with light and shadow, but also by including lesser obvious opposites like gender, curves & straight lines, hardness & softness, etc.

The illustration portrays a young, elegant woman with a rigorous, androgynous look. She’s in a dark and undefined room – possibly a detective agency – and the scarce light source throws a hard shadow on her delicate face. Her expression lies somewhere between curiosity and confidence, and it raises questions about who this mysterious figure might be.

This picture really was a hard piece of work. The most expensive project I have ever done for the university, and a lot of problems during its process that almost impeded the shooting. Fortunately it turned out quite pleasant and even though I was running late I enjoyed the shooting a lot.

The picture itself is my personal hommage to Roman poet Ovid with his masterpiece “Metamorphoses”. I tried to combine several stories in one picture; each one pictured by one of the objects in the composition. The objects itself are modern day symbols that I created by reducing the storyline to its main-metamorphosis. I have to admit, that soome of them are quite tricky to get. The selection of the stories was merely by my liking and some famous tales that everybody has heard of somehow. Enjoy.

This poster was part of an exercise I made for a course on typography. We had to draw a pangram by hand to practice our typographic skills. That’s what I came up with.Oh, the pangram is a german one and it reads:

“Prall vom Whisky flog Quax den Jet zu bruch".

A very loose translation into english for everyone who doesn’t speak german:

“Drunk by the whisky, Quax crashed the jet. "

I made a website for an insurance broker in Tenerife (Canary Islands). We tried to take a different approach than usual insurance companies and loosen the layout up. Sandy colors instead of whites and greytones, and friendly illustrations rather than stockphotography.

For the mugshots of the staff I decided to replace them with some illustrations, which are inspired by the real appearance of these people. 

For some pages I already created some alternate version of the group-picture. I am planning on changing them for most of the pages, so they actual fit the policy. But that’s something for the future.

›Dieter von Teese‹ is an hommage to Dita von Teese, and to some of my friends my new nickname. We came up with this name one night in Erlangen, when we were meeting some people from another university. One guy told me his name was Robert and I – for some inexplicable reason – repeat his name. But instead of saying ›Robert‹ I said ›Roberta‹. He didn’t like the sound of that very much and replied, that I rather look like a “Dieter”, too. From there, the whole thing just started to become hilarious and we had an awesome night together. And the rest as they say is history.
